Ty Beanie Bandz

Ty Beanie Bandz

Silly Bandz are wrist and ankle bracelets that were sold in thousands of stores across the USA. They came in a variety of shapes, colors, and themes. Children often wore several at once and traded them like other collectables. The Bandz are made out of silicone.

On July 13, 2010 Ty Inc. filed a U.S. federal trademark registration for BEANIE BANDZ. The first six packs of Ty Beanie Bandz shipped to Ty authorized retailers in the USA in late September, 2010.

Ty's production and market timing for his version of the Bandz appears to have been miscalculated. By the time Ty Beanie Bandz were hitting retailer shelves, the "Silly Bandz" fad had run its course. Ty had come to the game too late. To make marketing matters even worse, school systems across the USA had already begun to prohibit Silly Bandz in schools. When kids couldn't show off their collections and trade with other kids; their interest in Bandz died out quickly, as with numerous previous fads.

Ty managed to ship 14 different sets of Beanie Bandz prior to Christmas 2010, but did not introduce any new ones after that year.
