Jingle Beanies are Ty's decoration and gift product line for the winter holidays. They were first introduced to retailers on
September 9, 2001, at the Boston Gift Show. They were introduced at the Ty online site on September 17, 2001.
The first nine Jingle Beanies were Loosy, Quackers, Rover, Twigs, 1997 Teddy,
1998 Teddy, 1999 Teddy, Peace and Halo.
Jingle Beanies are smaller than regular Beanie Babies but made from the same material. They
have loops so they can be hung as decorations, or attached to gifts. The first set of Jingle Beanies released by Ty did not
have bells inside of them. After the first set, most of the Jingle Beanies had either internal bells or bells attached to
their clothing.
In 2007, Ty released the first Jingle Beanie key-clips, exclusively in the UK. The first UK key-clip versions have a
metal key holder attached to their loop, but they do not have bells.
The current status of the Jingle Beanies is uncertain. The last new Jingle Beanies (with
Jingle Beanies swing tags) were
released in 2008. In 2009, Ty started a new product line for the holidays named Baby
Beanies. These appear to be replacements for the Jingle Beanie product line and have their own unique swing tag. To add
to the confusion, Ty lists the Baby Beanies under the Jingle Beanies section of
the Ty Internet site.
As of July 2010, it appears Ty's winter holiday releases will be
Baby Beanies. He has
not announced any new Jingle Beanies since 2009.
