Near the end of 2010, Ty teamed up with IWAKO to produce Beanie Eraserz based on IWAKO's collectible Japanese puzzle
erasers. Ty's first shipment of Eraserz was are based on the most popular designs from IWAKO's product line and shared names with past Ty products.
The Eraserz are non-toxic, recyclable, environmentally friendly and colorful. IWAKO warns on their Internet site that Eraserz are
not suitable for children under 8 years of age.
Each Eraser comes in its own special Ty package. They can all be disassembled and
reassembled, or mixed and matched with
other Eraserz. They have from 2 to 6 parts. Ty Beanie Eraserz also hold the distinction of being the lowest priced product Ty has offered, with a suggested
retail price of $1.00 each.
Ty Beanie Eraserz first appeared for sale by Ty retailers in the UK on December 25, 2010. They were officially introduced
at the Ty online site on January 1, 2011. Ty retailers in the USA started
selling Beanie Eraserz in early January 2011.
The first release featured 14 different characters.
In July 2011, Ty retailers in the UK began selling a new selection of Ty-licensed
erasers. The new varieties in the UK were named Beanie Puzzle Erasers.
They had not been previously announced by Ty in the USA. The new selection of 45
different items included non-animal items like construction vehicles, cooking
and eating utensils, airplanes, flower bouquets, school and office items and
more. The selection also contained like items in different color varieties,
like six colors of Prickles.
In September 2011, Ty shipped a large variety of new Erasers to retailers in the
USA. Some of the styles had been available previously in the UK. The name on the
packaging for the US releases had also been renamed Beanie Puzzle Eraser.
This new assortment of erasers also included replicas of food items.
